Bilal Ashraf is a Pakistani actor, producer and visual effects director. After studying visual effects at Franklin Marshall College, he began his career as a visual effects director and then moved on to acting after a brief role in the 2014 thriller O21. Ashraf has since starred in the romantic comedy Janaan (2016), the war drama Yalgaar (2017) and the musical romantic Superstar (2019).

Early – Personal Life & Showbiz Career
Bilal Ashraf was born in an Urdu-speaking family of Punjabi origin in Karachi. Playing a Pashto character in Jaanaan (2016) but not being one herself, she learned some Pashto for her role, “enough to look comfortable lip-syncing to the songs.”
Ashraf received his primary education from St. Michael’s Convent School, Karachi. He studied visual effects direction at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, United States. He double majored in finance and arts. He later went to London’s Escape Studios to learn animation. He has ten years of experience behind the camera.
Ashraf initially worked as a hedge consultant in New York, but later quit and moved to London to study animation and visual effects at the insistence of his late sister, Sadia Ashraf, with a director. He is also a film making teacher. New York University who wanted to improve Pakistani cinema and with whom he made radical films. This is the reason why he decided to become an actor. Ashraf has named Pink Floyd as his all-time favourite band, choosing Scent of a Woman as the film that inspired him to become an actor, while also citing sculpting and painting as his “hidden talents“. Ashraf played a cameo role in the 2014 thriller O21. In 2016, Ashraf made his lead acting debut in Jaanaan, a romantic comedy opposite Armina Khan and Ali Rehman Khan, which was well received by critics as well as audiences. The following year he appeared in the war film Yalgaar which opened well at the box office, while his second release in 2017, Rangriza, failed both critically and commercially.
In 2019, she played the lead role in Ehtishamuddin’s directorial debut, Superstar, produced by Momina Duraid and co-starring Mahira Khan. Superstar Bilal became Ashraf’s highest grossing film. Explaining his long absence since Rangreza, he said that, given his lack of talent, he would look at scripts more seriously, and also shared the fact that he had acted in the UK. In 2021, he started his acting career on television with Ek Hai Nigar and also became a producer, founding the production house Beehive Transmedia with director-actor Ehtishamuddin, his first release was the historical drama ‘Khab Tot Jati’.
