Most Pakistani dramas revolve around female characters. Hence, these characters play an important role in keeping the interest of the audience alive. One thing is for sure, a character doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be great. A layered character penned with conviction and a journey that keeps the viewer’s interest alive can easily be called the best.
It’s always a treat to see female characters who aren’t typical and have a mix of strengths and weaknesses. This year, there were a lot of beautifully written female characters in both the lead and supporting roles who kept our interest even when the parts of the dramas weren’t great overall. Making this list is our way of appreciating all the writers who think outside the box and sometimes just being logical is enough to write a good character. These amazing characters will remain fresh in our memories for a long time.

Dua (Aye Musht e Khaak)
Dua’s role in Aye Musht e Khaak was certainly quite interesting because of the way Sana Javed wrote and performed it. Usually in Pakistani dramas, the soft-spoken girl with faith and religious leanings is portrayed as quite submissive with zero vision for herself or her life partner.
